SANDBACH TOWN COUNCIL
Cheshire East Council staff design, plant and maintain floral displays on roundabouts and around the Marriott House bowling green. Arrangements for hanging baskets and tub planting was for many years successfully undertaken by Sandbach in Bloom, though this has now been taken on by the Town Council, through its Assets and Services Committee.
Additional floral displays in Sandbach Park are provided by the Friends of Sandbach Park working with Cheshire East Council and Friends of Sandbach Station brighten up the station platforms. Sandbach Allotments Society has provided a ‘help-yourself’ herb garden in Penda Way, masses of daffodils have been planted by members of the Rotary Clubs and Sandbach Woodland and Wildlife Group have provided extensive areas for wildflowers to flourish.
The Tidy Town Group and the Community Pride Competition.
Sandbach has won for the fifth time, In 2011, the Town Council Tidy Town Group was formed and members work effectively with several community groups to tackle ‘grot spots’, launch campaigns to keep the town tidy, and prepare guidance leaflets for banners promoting town events. In 2013 the Group decided to re-enter the competition.
At the Community Pride Awards Ceremony on 9 October 2014, Sandbach received five awards:
A ‘Little Gem’ Award: Sensory Garden, Sandbach Park.
Community Champion: Highly Commended
Best Kept Market Town: (population 10,001 – 30,000)
